Conventions

The conventions of a thriller/horror movie are always involving somebody or something that is out to kill everybody, while the people try to stop the person or thing and save the city, town, etc. Movies like this always involve alot of blood, so expect that in a thriller/horror movie. Also, you expect to not see the killer until the end of the movie. It is the whole point because it keeps the audience on their feet because they want to see who is the killer and how they are going to stop it. One of the main things though that these types of movies always have is the music. The slow, kind of creepy music and you know something is going to pop up. 

Meet The Conventions?

This movie lived up to the conventions because it followed exactly what people expect froma thiller/horror movie. Like what was said in the question before, the killer is never seen until the end of the movie. We know that the shark is the killer in this movie, but we never get a really good close up of it until Brody kills it at the end. Also, Jaws involves alot of blood and killing which is what people expect from this type of movie genre. This movie also live up to the conventions because of the music. Jaws has its own little scary/creepy song that they use in the movie when the shark is near. When you hear this song you know that something bad is going to happen.

My Movie Review

I personally did not like this movie. I usually like these types of movies, but Jaws didnt quite make me happy. Im still debating whether it is because it is an old movie and watching it now makes it look really fake and i just laugh. Or because sharks in my opinion arnt really scary so I didnt get scared easily. It wasnt something like a killer out on the streets that can happen any day. I am not in the ocean every day so i have nothing to worry about and this is why it wasnt scary.

The acting in this movie was very well played in my point of view. Brody and the fisherman who catches all the sharks really make it interseting because they really know how to step foot in sea characters. They really make you think that they are realy fishermen in real life. The shark wasnt really considered a character, but if it is i think that it could of had some work on it. I understand that it is an old movie, but when it came out of the water it really looked fake. Besides that, all the acting was very well.

I reccomend this movie to people over the age of 16 because it involves alot of bloody killing scenes. Kids under that age will freak out and maybe never want to go in the water again. I also think that the target audience should be teenagers because it is a good rush to go watch this movie and plus the fact that they are the ones that are always in the water, maybe they will get a little scare out of this. Adults will enjoy this movie too but not so much over the age of 40.

CONEVNTIONS OF AN ACTION MOVIE

 Action movies usually have car chases, foot chases, alot of scenes with gun fighting and explosions, people dieing or getting hurt, and last but not least people ending up in jail while some other people get away. Also, an action movie is expected to be a very fast pace movie that involves alot of things happening at once.

Turning point 1 : Joe Kane gets nominated for Heisman trophy.

Turning point 2: Joe meets Camile

Turning point 3: Joe makes his team lose the foot-ball game because of his bad pass

Turning point 4: Joe gets caught for drunk driving from his coach and he gets sent to rehab

Turning point 5: Joe completes an amazing pass and his team wins the final game.

MY EXPECTATIONS

My expectations for this movie was exactly what i was thinking. Before I watch a sport movie, I always expect that there is going to be a group of boys or girls that are in a team and that are struggling to get something they really want, example the cup of the season or something like that. Also, I knew that there was going to be problems like a boy falling inlove and encountering diffuculties, or vice versa. Another thing that i expect before watching a sport movie is the team encountering a problem while they are trying to get what they want ( the cup, or make the team..ect ), and then at the end finally they get what they want.

MEET MY EXPECTATIONS?..

YES! This movie did meet my expectations because everything that i thought was going to happen, happened. Then only thing that i was a bit confused about was the fact that Joe’s father didnt show up to the last game. I knew that the first time Joe asked him to do something, he wasnt going to do it, but then the second time around i expected him to actually show up at the game. Also, all the guys had personal problems that they encountered and they all got through it and won the final game at the end of the season and thats what they wanted most! This is exactly what i thought was goin to happen while watching the begining of the movie.

MOVIE REVIEW

I really liked watching this movie because sport movies in my opinion are my favourite types of movies. I am a very athletic kid and i enjoy watching movies that involve sports that i play also! The biggest reason why i liked this movie is because i can compare it to my life. Movies like this one that involve sports, are usually based around everyday teenage life at highschool, just like me. So i can really compare this movie to my life and thats what pulls me in to watch more. I found this movie very interesting because there was always something going on, meaning, more then one character had problems that were encountered. This meant no slow point in the movie because while one character was trying to fix his problem, another character encountered a problem. I really liked the choice of acting in this movie because they played the sport part really well. Joe was a good choice for that part because just by looking at him he looks like one of those alchoholic players, or just a player that has problems. Also, i liked the guy who played the part with the steroids, he really brought out the toughness to the movie. I reccommend this movie to teenagers that want to watch a great sport movie. I dont reccommend this movie to kids under the age of 14 because it has bad messages like drinking, drunk driving, steroids(drugs), etc. Overall this movie was really good and i would re watch it if i had it!

turning point #2: Ruben goes to an art musem/get together that his friend brings him to, and meets an old school friend names Polly.

turning point #3: Ruben goes on many dates with Polly and starts to like her.

turning point #4: Ruben’s wife is in his house one night when he comes home with Polly, and she explains to him that she wants to get back together with him because she realized that she made a mistake.

turning point #5: Lisa is no longer Ruben’s loved one because Ruben decides to stay with Polly because she is the one that he now loves.

This movie was exactly what i expected it to be. I predicted exactly what was going to happen at the begining, during the movie, and at the end of the movie. A romantic comedy to me is actually one of the easiest types of movies to predict what is goin to happen. They all have the samething that is going to happen, either their love runs away or disappears, or the parents don’t want them to be together, or someone comes along and one of the two falls for that person. In this romantic comedy, the main actor’s wife stays behind and then she comes back, but while she is gone he meets someone new and experiences many funny things with them t make him fall for her. Also, a romantic comedy needs alot of laughing, and love.. says it in the genre: romantic=love, comedy=laughing.. DUHHH! Actors and actresses are very important when it comes to comedies. You need very good actors and who’s funnier then Ben Stiller.. NOONE! The lovey dovey parts have to be good too. Jennifer Aniston plays a very funny but yet romantic part in this movie.. she really plays the part good too.

This movie lived up to the conventions because i was very happy after watching this movie and did not stop laughing with my friends all day. I kept saying ” solide” and “look at me into my eyeball” to everyone that i saw pass by! lol.. No part of this movie disspaointed me. A movie should be able to be watched again and again by teh audience without being bored of it. This is a movie that i can actually go buy even though i watched it in class. Also, it really stuck to its genre. What i mean by that is that it was very funny, but at times very romantic. This movie really gave me what i was expecting!

The acting in this movie was very good! Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston are i think the best two actors together for a romantic comedy. I couldnt picture andybody else in the position of the main character(Ben Stiller). Also, Claude, was very funny and his accent really made everyone laugh. I like the fact of where the movie was filmed(New York). I like it because New York is a very busy city and it gave me always something to focus on even in the background of the actors and actresses. My cons of this movie is the fact that it was very predictable. I always knew what was goin to happen next and it doesnt keep me on my feet. In my opinion i prefers movies that keep me wanting to watch more. I reccomend this movie to all viewers expect for kids and elder past the age of 40. Kids because they wouldnt understand, they would only think that Ben Stiller facial expressions are funny. And adults past the age of 40, well because they just dont have such a sence of humour anymore at that age for stupidities! I also reccomend this movie to someone that lost somebody that they love. This movie could make them laugh abit to cheer up, and also can make them realize that someone else can come their way witouth even expecting it. That could really put their head up high again!!!

2. I think that this issue is very important. It is something that can ruin your future. If somebody important sees this picture or if the principal decides to share it with other school prinicipals, he will just might not be able to get into a good school or university! This affects Jared alot also becuase he is supposed to be good because he is part of the student council!

3. This relates to me because when i go to a party i also drink sometimes. Pictures are taken of me and are posted on facebook or wherever they are posted for people to see. I believe that even though i want to fool around out of school, it shouldnt effect me at school and make the principal get ionvolved. Whatever i do out of school is my business!!!

2. I detest it so much when people are trying to be you but they are fake. It gets me so mad when i see a fake person on facebook for example. If i were in Jillian’s position and congo was using my information, i would de-activate my account immideatly!

3. This case study has had alot of effect on me. Everytime i sign up for something i never read the terms of conditions. Even though something like facebook is safe, sometimes it can screw you over. Alot of people our out there on cyberspace to joke around and steal other people’s information. Starting from now, after reading this case study, i will watch out for wath i sign up for on the internet and i will only sign up for things that are really private if it involves my personal info. For example, this blog can be read by everyone all over the world, but not enough information is on this for people to get to me. HAHA for people who want to scam me.. not on this blog lol

2. I believe that cameras are a good thing to have in public place such as schools, resturaunts, stores etc. When people know that cameras are around, they act very different. Knowing that there is a camera that is watching you, will stop you from doing anything stupid like stealing, killing or hurting someoone, or even just violating. I am for cameras all the way! The only thing that i am worried about is that some day they will make cameras in changing rooms or bathrooms legal. If that ever happens, that will be the day i go against cameras. Till that day, i am completely for cameras!

3. Reading this article doesnt really change any of my point of views in this topic. When i go out somewhere i dont have to think about being watched by cameras. I automatically know that I am being watched, if its cameras or if its people. Our society shouldnt even need cameras because we shouldnt be doing anything bad, but because of the way we act, we need cameras. I also know that when I am at work, there are cameras that watch me… this is because i work in a grocery store. Sometimes when something happens, the bosses dont even know about it because the cameras arent recording!!
